Finding Your Second Life and Fantasy Getaway

Sometimes life can get to a point where we want to escape into a world that we wish existed and take on another roll. Imagine you could become an elf or a wizard and have your own small house to store your spells, or perhaps you feel like being half animal and half human with a beautiful coat of fur. Your imagination can go wild when it comes to your ideal virtual escape, and I am going to tell you how it can happen.

Your Second Life and A Fantasy Getaway

Back in the early 2000s a virtual world called Second Life was created and is continually evolving today. Unlike many social open world games, there are no predefined goals or set of achievements in Second Life, so you choose your destiny and can be anybody you wish to be. You start out with a character called an avatar which you can name anything you like dressed in only the most necessary clothes, and then you enter into a user-created world where you start living your virtual life.

You can do what you want in this virtual world and be who you want. The first thing many residents do is look for some land for a house or garden. The marketplace offers a lot of housing options, and you can buy small huts and large mansions. You can also build your own using the in-world building tools. Whichever way you decide to make your house, you will need to find a desirable piece of land first so you know how big the house can be.

Finding land for your virtual life can be overwhelming, so I will show you some ways to simplify the way you decide.

  1. Decide if you want to rent or buy: Buying a land parcel requires you to have a premium membership and pay for the land and monthly landowner fees. Renting is a lot easier, and can be cheaper because you pay the landlord one monthly or weekly rental payment only. You do not need to be a premium member to have a rental so you can build your virtual life slowly before you decide if you want to gain the extra benefits of premium membership. I recommend you look at this list of Second Life Land for Rent and see if there is something that appeals to you there.

  2. Decide on a location: Perhaps you want to be in a busy area such as a business location or maybe you want the peace offered by a secluded private area or you may desire an area with water views. If you are doing some role-playing, you may want to find land near other people who also share the same interest.

If you follow those guidelines, you should be on your way to finding a desirable place to call your virtual home.

I want you to enjoy your time and embrace the virtual world and hope I have given you the right information to help you get started with your land choices. I know it can be challenging when you first get started so push on and learn as you go and I am sure you will enjoy your virtual escape.
